DURANT, Okla. -- The improvements in downtown Durant are almost complete. The city had their dedication for phase three of the Streetscape Project on Tuesday.
Many citizens came Tuesday to show their support and watch the ribbon cutting ceremony for the project that began in late 2007.
The project’s cost is just under $500,000, and federal funds are covering 80% of the project.
Donna Dow, program manager for Durant Main Street, says businesses and citizens can already see the changes.
"You can tell the difference now in the downtown area, and I say it just sets a great environment for the businesses to thrive and I think you can tell that our businesses are thriving."
The project is scheduled to be completed sometime later this month.
