SEATTLE (AP) -The attorney for the Army sergeant accused of a massacre in two Afghan villages says his client will avoid the death penalty by pleading guilty next week.
The attorney says Staff Sgt. Robert Bales was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and a traumatic brain injury when 16 villagers were killed.
And the lawyer continues to blame the Army for sending Bales on another deployment.
