JOHANNESBURG (AP) - Today, South Africans are marking former President Nelson Mandela's 95th birthday.
Schools around the country are holding special assemblies and South Africans are being asked to volunteer to charity.
Mandela remains in a hospital with a recurring lung infection. But doctors say his health is steadily improving. He had been close to death.
