OKLAHOMA CITY,OK. (AP) - About 200 Oklahoma National Guard members are scheduled to return to the state after serving a nine-month deployment in Afghanistan.
Gov. Mary Fallin will be on hand for a ceremony to welcome home members of the 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team Monday morning at the Will Rogers Air National Guard Base hangar. The group's arrival will be followed on Tuesday with the return of about 200 more soldiers.
Nearly 2,200 Oklahoma Army National Guard members from the 45th deployed to Afghanistan in June, while another 800 were sent to Kuwait.
More than half the brigade is still serving overseas, but those members are expected to return to Oklahoma in the coming weeks.
