STRINGTOWN, Okla. (AP) - A man serving life without parole for killing his mother has been found dead in his prison cell.

State prison officials say 48-year-old Monroe Plumlee was found unresponsive Tuesday in the cell at the Mack Alford Correctional Center in Stringtown.

Department of Corrections spokesman Jerry Massie says an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.

Plumlee was convicted of first-degree murder in LeFlore County in the butcher knife stabbing death of his mother.
