JOHNSTON COUNTY, Okla. - Twelve homes were evacuated in Johnston County Monday night due to an out of control fire near Mill Creek, authorities said. Officials also issued an emergency warning for residents living south and west of Mill Creek.

A wildfire started one mile east of the Murray County line is moving rapidly the northwest.

"They've got the fire basically under control. We started evacuating 12 homes. If the wind picks up tonight, that's when we'll have to have them evacuate," emergency management director Wesley Sanders said Monday night.

The fireline was moving toward Mill Creek by mid-evening, authorities said. At least a hundred firefighters were on the scene and have been fighting the fire for days.

Evacuations are being recommended for those living south and west of Mill Creek.
