LANE, Okla. (AP) - A 43-year-old man is dead following a collision in Atoka County.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol identified the victim of Monday's crash as Ted Eugene Hess, 43, of Stringtown.
The collision occurred at 3:58 p.m. on Oklahoma 3 about one mile east of Lane. Troopers say the collision occurred when an eastbound vehicle slowed because of construction equipment in the roadway. It was then struck by a second eastbound vehicle.
Troopers say the first vehicle then crossed into the westbound lane and collided with a westbound vehicle in which Hess was a passenger.
The patrol says the drivers of two of the vehicles were pinned for about 40 minutes.
Troopers say the cause of the collision is under investigation but that the roadway was wet when the crash occurred.
