ARDMORE, Okla. (AP) - The Michelin tire plant in Ardmore will furlough about 240 employees for eight weeks starting next week.
Michelin North America officials say the move is a result of the economic downturn and weak demand for both passenger car and light
Michelin public relations manager Lynn Mann says the cut in the work force is temporary. Mann says the company is working with the state to help the employees receive a significant percentage of their regular pay.
The Ardmore plan has about 1,750 employees and Mann says those on furlough volunteered to take leave.
