OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Law enforcement authorities say gang members are challenging police officers as gang violence increases in Oklahoma.
Oklahoma City police officer Tim Hock spoke today at at a conference in Oklahoma City on violent crimes and terrorist threats. Hock says greater numbers of gangs and gang violence pose the biggest domestic threat to the United States.
Hock says there are between 6,000 and 7,000 gang members in Oklahoma City. Gang members in the city are affiliated with six major gangs, including some Hispanic gangs and others based on the West Coast.
Hock says there are as many as 900,000 gang members nationwide.
