Rafes appointed WVa osteopathic school president

LEWISBURG, W.Va. (AP) - Richard Rafes has been appointed president of the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine.

The school's Board of Governors said Thursday that Rafes will succeed Dr. Olen Jones, who announced in January that he planned to
resign after 21 years.

The appointment is subject to approval by the Higher Education Policy Commission and would become effective Feb. 1.

Rafes is currently president of East Central University in Ada, Okla. He also served in various capacities at the University of North Texas and the University of North Texas System.
