EDMOND, Okla. (AP) - Some of the 2,800 Santa Claus figurines in a valuable collection donated to the University of Central Oklahoma in 1996 apparently are missing.
The collection put together by longtime Oklahoma City resident Tom Brittain was given to UCO after his death.
It includes some Santa figures that are centuries old and worth up to $6,000.
UCO museums and galleries director Zina Gelona says she doesn't think the collection was properly handled before she took the job in 200. She says some pieces were apparently loaned to faculty to decorate their offices during the holidays
Gelona says she put a stop to that practice.
