OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The year is early, but statistics show more people are dying in traffic accidents in Oklahoma this year than during the same time last year.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported Saturday there have been 12 traffic-related deaths so far this year on Oklahoma roadways. That compares to just nine during the same time in January 2008.
Last year, traffic fatalities were down across the state compared to 2007. The OHP reports 689 people died in traffic accidents in Oklahoma in 2008, compared to 766 fatalities in 2007.
