PERRY, Okla. (AP) - The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says troopers shot a man on Interstate 35 near Perry after he led them on a high-speed chase.
Capt. Chris West says he doesn't know the man's name or condition, how many times he was shot or where he was hit. He says the man was taken to OU Medical Center.
West says the chase began about 10 a.m. Monday when troopers tried to stop a sport utility vehicle with Missouri tags for a traffic violation about 30 miles north of Perry.
He says the man sped away southbound and crossed into northbound
lanes. A trooper managed to spin out the SUV about two miles north of Perry.
West says that as the troopers approached, the man pulled a gun and fired and troopers returned fire.
The troopers were not hurt.
