RINGWOOD, Okla. (AP) - A funeral is scheduled today for the superintendent of Ringwood Public Schools.
According to Fairview Funeral Home, Ray Johnson died Saturday of a massive heart attack at the age of 58.
Johnson began his job as Ringwood superintendent in 2000 and oversaw the construction of a new gym and a project for a new
Board of Education President John Regier says both of those were bond issues that were passed overwhelmingly by the community.
Johnson also helped the school acquire a new football field house, a new softball field and a new agriculture farm.
Besides the successful bond issue campaigns, Regier says Johnson
also helped Ringwood raise test scores and was involved in helping
Spanish-speaking students learn English.
Johnson is survived by his wife, Barbara Dawn; one daughter; one
son; his mother; two sisters; and two grandchildren.
His funeral will be 10 a.m. today in the Ringwood High School gymnasium.
