TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (AP) - Police in Tahlequah say a 10-year-old boy has confessed to setting a fire at Tahlequah Medical Center that briefly trapped a helicopter ambulance pilot.
Fire Chief Ray Hammons says two volunteer firefighters rescued Keith Sweeney from the burning building shortly before 3 p.m. Saturday. Sweeney was treated at the scene for minor smoke inhalation and released.
He was the only person in the building, which houses doctors offices.
Investigators say the fire was started in plants in a stairwell of the building and caused about $10,000 in damage.
Authorities say the boy has been released to his grandfather's custody and the case will be given to juvenile authorities.
