DURANT, OK - A Durant man was killed when he was hit by a train while sitting beside railroad tracks.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 49-year-old Roger Wade Halford of Durant died in the incident just after 4 p.m. Sunday.
Troopers say the train's crew saw Halford sitting on the right side of the track and the conductor blew the train whistle twice. It is believed that Halford was under the influence of alcohol at the time.
Halford looked up then slumped back over and was clipped by the front of the train as it passed by. He was pronounced dead at the scene due to massive injuries.
