OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma City police have joined the number of departments that place unclaimed lost and stolen items on an online auction site.
The items range from jewelry, electronics and vehicles to beauty and gardening supplies.
Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow says the department has collected about $14,000 from items sold on the site - PropertyRoom.com. The money is added to the city's general fund.
Wardlow says the online auction is more convenient and saves the cost of holding a live auction.
Wardlow says police try to find the owners of items before putting them on PropertyRoom.com.
The site also allows people to register stolen or missing items to help keep claimed property off the Web site.
