Nichols Hills Oklahoma Shooting

NICHOLS HILLS, Okla. (AP) - The police chief of Nichols Hills says an officer has fatally shot a suspected burglar after a confrontation.

Police Chief Richard Mask says officers received an emergency call about 8:30 a.m. Monday from a woman who says she heard glass breaking at a neighbor's house.

Mask says officers found a broken window in the back of the house and confronted the suspect in the house. That led to a foot chase. Mask says the burglar ran out through a neighbor's yard and driveway, where he was shot and killed.

Mask says the burglar appeared to be in his 20s. The man's identity has not been released and neither were the names of the officers involved.

Mask says the officer who fired the shot has been placed on routine administrative leave.
