DURANT, Okla. (AP) - A former Bryan County jailer has been sentenced to three years in prison for helping an inmate escape.
Nineteen-year-old Anthony Michael Groff was sentenced Wednesday to five years, with two years suspended, for providing a prisoner a useful aid to escape.
Prosecutors allege Groff gave a handcuff key to 18-year-old Billy Joe Wallace, who escaped for about 20 minutes after a court appearance on May 27 before being caught by police.
Wallace's 19-year-old girlfriend also has been charged with assisting an escape and is scheduled for arraignment Oct. 20.
