8 deaths blamed on wintry storm in Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The number of fatalities in Oklahoma blamed on the wintry storm has increased.

Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management spokeswoman Keli Cain said Monday that the Medical Examiner reports that eight people have died from the wintry storm.

The deaths include a 5-year-old boy who died in a rollover accident in Muskogee and a 6-year-old boy who died after falling through ice in a creek in Tulsa. A 77-year-old woman from Altus died from hypothermia.

An 18-year-old Tulsa man and an 85-year-old Oklahoma City man died in separate traffic accidents. An unidentified adult male died from a propane stove fire in Westville, while a 56-year-old man died in a Tulsa home fire. A 43-year-old man died in Oklahoma City but the cause of his death is pending.
