Oklahoma woman donates kidney to ailing fiancee

JENKS, Okla. (AP) - An Oklahoma woman says it was love that motivated her to donate a kidney to her ailing fiancee.

Lacie Bradshaw has known Juan Perez of Jenks all of her life. When Perez's kidneys began failing, she watched as he spent 37 months on dialysis and waited for a transplant.

She eventually had herself tested and found she was a perfect match for Perez. She says it was an easy decision to donate one of her kidneys to Perez.

He proposed to Bradshaw two nights before undergoing the transplant surgery. Ten months later, the couple is doing well and have had no complications.

The couple will represent Donate Life America on New Year's Day and will be on its float during the annual Tournament of Roses parade in Pasadena, Calif.
