Kansas man sentenced to 150 years for fatal crash

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (AP) - A Kansas City, Kan., man convicted of
causing a triple-fatality accident in Cherokee County has been
sentenced to 150 years in prison.
Thirty-one-year-old Anthony Joseph Whitney II was sentenced
Thursday after being convicted in January of three counts of
manslaughter. Defense attorney Crystal Jackson has filed a motion
for a new trial.
Authorities say Whitney was driving drunk when his pickup truck
crossed the centerline of Oklahoma 82 on Oct. 27, 2008, and crashed
into an oncoming pickup.
Killed in the crash were 52-year-old Rudy Gourd and his sons -
29-year-old Russell and 20-year-old Eli Gourd. All three were from
Locust Grove.
