STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) - Billionaire oilman T. Boone Pickens
says he's giving $100 million to fund a major endowment for
scholarships at Oklahoma State University, his alma mater.
Pickens revealed his estate gift Friday during an event
announcing the start of the public phase of OSU's $1 billion
"Branding Success" campaign. The campaign is designed to raise
money to fund scholarships, faculty positions, research and
buildings at the Stillwater school.
Pickens' gift brings the total already raised to $537 million.
OSU President Burns Hargis says that, of the $1 billion to be
raised, $500 million would be used to endow scholarships and
fellowships for students.
