Norman police say person shot by officer dies

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - Norman police say an intoxicated man who
had a firearm and was threatening suicide has died after being shot
by an officer.
Police identified the man on Friday as 31-year-old Jesse
Shipley.
The department said in a news release that officers were called
about 1 a.m. to a southeast Norman apartment complex where a person
was threatening suicide. The individual was found with a firearm on
a back patio.
Police say Shipley was shot during the encounter and then taken
to Norman Regional Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Officials didn't release the name of the officer involved in the
shooting or any additional details.
