President of Rwanda to visit Oklahoma Christian U.
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The president of the African nation of Rwanda is scheduled to speak at a graduation ceremony at Oklahoma Christian University.
President Paul Kagame will deliver the address during Friday afternoon's ceremony, at which 10 students from Rwanda will be among the graduates.
The students are the first graduates from Oklahoma Christian's Rwanda Presidential Scholars program, which provides scholarships to select Rwandan students to study at the private, Church of Christ-affiliated university.
Kagame first visited Oklahoma Christian in 2006 at the invitation of university President Mike O'Neal. During Kagame's visit, O'Neal announced the creation of the scholarship program.
About 60 Rwandan students now attend Oklahoma Christian and 40 of those are involved in the scholarship program.
