3,400 Oklahoma soldiers to be sent to Afghanistan
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - About 3,400 Oklahoma Army National Guard soldiers will be sent to Afghanistan in the largest such deployment since the Korean War.
The Defense Department announced Tuesday that the soldiers in the Oklahoma City-based 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team would be deployed to Afghanistan next year.
A news conference was scheduled later Tuesday.
