Okla teen to face juvenile charges in shooting
MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) - A 17-year-old who is accused in the fatal shooting of a teenager at a Muskogee mall no longer faces charges as an adult.
Muskogee County prosecutors dismissed accessory to murder and accessory to assault and battery counts against Anton Nelson, but plan to refile charges in juvenile court.
Nelson was charged as a youthful offender in the adult system in connection with the April 10 shooting at Arrowhead Mall that killed 17-year-old Jerrod Reed and wounded five others.
District Attorney Larry Moore says accessory to murder isn't a crime that can be filed against youthful offenders in the adult system, so prosecutors want to try to certify Nelson as an adult in the juvenile system.
Dondray Fowler is charged with first-degree murder for allegedly firing the shots.
