Lincoln County prosecutors have charged a Chandler woman with second-degree manslaughter in the death of a toddler who was left in a hot minivan.
Authorities alleged that Jessica Holmes negligently caused the May 25 death of 2-year-old Atrinity Hasbell. Atrinity's mother, Sarenity Morse, says Holmes, her roommate, was to have dropped Atrinity off at a Meeker day care when Holmes left her two sons there.
But when both returned to pick up their children, officials said
Atrinity hadn't been there. The women found her in the van. District Attorney Richard Smothermon said Holmes may not have intended for Atrinity to die, but she's culpable for not taking reasonable steps to make sure Atrinity was safe. The temperature was around 90 degrees that day.
