Authorities say a Broken Arrow teen has died after she was struck by a Catoosa police officer's car while walking in the middle of the road.
The accident that killed 16-year-old Jaimie Lee Slaven happened
about 5:15 a.m. Friday. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 24-year-old Catoosa officer Steven Treat was traveling eastbound on a city street when his car crested a hill and he saw a couple walking in the roadway.
Troopers say Treat swerved to miss the couple but hit Slaven,
who died at the scene. Catoosa Police Lt. John Blish says Treat has worked for the department for about a year. Treat was not injured and was placed on paid leave as authorities investigate the collision.
