Governor Brad Henry has signed a key component of the state's $6.7 billion budget to fund state government for the fiscal year that begins July 1.
Henry signed the general appropriations bill on Thursday. The
measure takes effect July 1 and allocates funding for various state agencies.
The bill was among 28 measures Henry signed into law on Thursday. Several of the measures were components of the overall budget agreement, including fee increases and the suspension of several tax breaks.
Lawmakers used a combination of revenue enhancements and cuts to
state programs to close an estimated $1.2 billion hole in the fiscal year 2011 budget.
