Oklahoma City fire officials say 34-year-old Lloyd Robinson drowned Thursday in Canadian river in northeast Oklahoma City around 3 p.m after saving his two children.
Battalion Chief Brian Stanaland said firefighters received a call just after 3 p.m. Thursday that a man went into the water under a northeast Oklahoma County bridge and never resurfaced.
Stanaland says firefighters in life vests tried to find the man
but were unsuccessful. He says dive teams recovered his body about
4:12 p.m. The man, whose name wasn't released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Stanaland says family members told authorities they were
swimming and fishing in the river when his 8-year-old son and
13-year-old daughter got in the water and had trouble getting out. He says the man reached the children and threw them back onshore, but lost his life in the process .
