Former Skiatook superintendent indicted

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Former Skiatook Superintendent Gary Johnson
has been indicted for bribery of a public official and embezzlement
following a grand jury investigation into a critical state audit.

The grand jury indictments were handed up late Friday and unsealed Tuesday. They are similar to allegations in a state audit that said the district overpaid more than a half-million dollars for custodial supplies and security equipment.

The audit said the district overpaid nearly $570,000 by buying through a middleman rather than buying directly. Johnson's attorney, Rob Nigh, says Johnson will plead not guilty to the accusations. He says Johnson is disappointed that the indictments were returned.

Nigh says Johnson has been a dedicated public servant all of his adult life and trusts that the process will work.
