Stillwater man faces rape, porn charges
STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) - Police say a Stillwater man faces rape and child-pornography charges following an investigation in which he was accused by three children.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says 68-year-old John Philips Ward faces charges filed Wednesday of rape, rape by instrumentation, lewd acts with a child, possession of child pornography and manufacturing child porn.
According to OSBI agents, three children came forward with accusations that they had been molested. The witnesses, both male and female, range in age from 9 to 14 years old. The OSBI said one victim claimed the abuse had been occurring for the past seven years.
OSBI spokeswoman Jessica Brown said agents obtained a search warrant and, on Ward's home computer, found thousands of images of Ward having sexual contact with many children. Brown said OSBI investigators hope that other victims who recognize Ward will come forward.
Ward is being held in lieu of $2 million bond. He is due in court next Wednesday for a preliminary hearing.
