Okla. lawmaker wants grand jury probe halted

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The attorney for a state lawmaker wants a
judge to end a grand jury investigation into alleged political
corruption.

Rep. Randy Terrill is under investigation by Oklahoma County
District Attorney David Prater for allegedly conspiring to create
an $80,000-a-year state job for Sen. Debbe Leftwich so Rep. Mike
Christian could run for her south Oklahoma City seat. Each has
denied wrongdoing, and Prater says Christian is no longer a subject
of the grand jury investigation.

Attorney Stephen Jones for Terrill says even if the allegation
is true, a grand jury can't investigate. He says the state
constitution protects legislators from having to answer questions
before a grand jury about legislative activity.

Prater says he's prepared to respond to the motions.
