SKIATOOK, Okla. (AP) - The Oklahoma Lake Patrol says two men
have drowned in separate incidents in Oklahoma.
Lake patrol divers recovered the body of 48-year-old Lindy
Eugene Jefferson of Blackwell shortly after noon Sunday in the
Chikaskia (shuh-KAS'-kee-uh) River near Blackwell. Troopers say
Jefferson disappeared in the river about 8:30 p.m. Friday after
diving into the water from under the State Highway 11 bridge over
The patrol also says 40-year-old Verdell Schoats of Tulsa
drowned about 9 p.m. Saturday while trying to swim across Skiatook
Lake in Osage County. His body was recovered about 11:30 p.m.
