OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals has set Dec. 4 as the execution date for a death row inmate convicted of first-degree murder in the 1998 stabbing death of a Department of Corrections employee.
The court scheduled the execution Wednesday for 53-year-old John Marion Grant. Grant was sentenced to death for the killing of corrections worker Gay Carter, who was stabbed 16 times at the Dick Connor Correctional Center in Hominy.
Grant's execution would be the third since the state suspended executions pending an investigation into the botched April 29 execution of Clayton Lockett. Charles Warner is scheduled to die Nov. 13 for raping and killing his roommate's daughter. Richard Eugene Glossip is scheduled to be executed Nov. 20 for the 1997 death of a 54-year-old man.
