Arraignment set in Oklahoma bus station attack

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A man charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of a 19-year-old woman in a crowded Oklahoma City bus station has waived his right to a preliminary hearing.

Isaiah Tryon is charged in the March 16 death of Tia Bloomer, the mother of his 2-year-old child. A judge on Wednesday set a Dec. 21 arraignment for Tryon.

Police say Bloomer was stabbed repeatedly inside a Metro Transit bus station in front of horrified commuters. She was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

Officers say a security guard took Tryon into custody before police arrived. Detectives questioned several people inside the bus station, which serves as a transfer hub for riders of the metro area's public transportation system.

First-degree murder is punishable by death or life in prison.
