SHAWNEE, Okla. (AP) - A former East Central University student has been ordered to stand trial on a murder charge in the shooting death of another student at the university.
Jerrod Murray of Asher is charged with first-degree murder in the Dec. 5 death of 18-year-old Generro Sanchez near Asher. Both men were freshmen at East Central in Ada at the time of the shooting.
Murray has pleaded not guilty. The Oklahoman reports that he said only "No ma'am" when asked by a reporter for comment before Thursday's hearing in Pottawatomie County District Court in Shawnee.
Authorities say Murray lured Sanchez to his death by offering him $20 for a ride to a store. Investigators say Murray confessed to killing Sanchez to see what it felt like.
