Terrico Bethel is charged with first-degree murder in the 2008 shooting death of Neal Sweeney. Jury selection is scheduled to begin Monday morning, even though Bethel has requested a delay in the proceedings.

District Judge Tom Gillert rejected that request last week, noting that the charges have been pending against Bethel for three years.

Three others were charged in what investigators believe was a murder for hire.

In January, Mohammed Aziz pleaded guilty to soliciting Sweeney's murder. He has not yet been sentenced.
