DUNCAN, Okla. (AP) - A 38-year-old Duncan man is accused of stabbing his stepmother.
The Lawton Constitution reports that James David Shield made an initial court appearance Monday in Stephens County District Court. He was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon after former convictions of two or more felonies. The charge is a felony. His bail was set at $50,000. The charge carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
Authorities were called to a home Friday night and found Diana Shield and her husband. Diana Shield said she was in pain following an argument with James Shield. She was taken to a local hospital, where it was discovered she had been stabbed near her right armpit.
Court records show that James Shield does not yet have an attorney.
