Early voting ends Mon. for Okla. Primary Runoff, local elections

Oklahoma's state Runoff Primary Election is on Tuesday, August 28, but early voting is still going on until 6 p.m. Monday at your county election board office.

60 of the state's 77 counties will hold elections on August 28. 41 counties feature Runoff Primaries for federal, state, or county offices. 19 counties have only local elections on the ballot. 17 counties have no elections at all. Voters can visit the State Election Board's website for a list of federal and state runoffs and a list of local elections scheduled for August 28.

Oklahoma has a "closed" Primary system, meaning only registered voters of a political party may vote in that party's Primary or Runoff Primary - but all voters can cast ballots in non-partisan local elections held on August 28.

Oklahoma State Election Board Secretary Paul Ziriax encourages registered voters to contact their county election board office before heading to the polls to find out if there is an election scheduled in their precinct - and, if so, whether the voter is eligible to vote in the election.

"There is not a statewide Runoff for either political party. In many counties that are having elections, there is not a countywide election. Before heading to the polls, it is very helpful to contact your county election board to ask, 'Is there an election in my precinct, and am I eligible to vote in that election?'" Ziriax said.

Voter registration for the Runoff Primary is closed, but voters can still register for the November 6 General Election.
