Ex-prosecutor sues Wagoner County sheriff

WAGONER, Okla. (AP) - A former prosecutor has filed a civil lawsuit against the Wagoner County Sheriff's Office, claiming investigators inappropriately targeted him as a suspect after the death of his wife.

Jeff Sheridan is seeking damages in excess of $10,000 plus punitive damages.

The lawsuit alleges that the sheriff's office abused its authority by targeting Sheridan as a suspect after the Sept. 30 death of his wife, Donna Jean Sheridan, whose death was later ruled a suicide.

The suit accuses investigators of entering Sheridan's property without consent or lawful authority. It also claims that investigators took property without Sheridan's consent.

Undersheriff Mike Stickelmeyer tells The Muskogee Phoenix that the office had not seen the suit and declined to comment.

Sheridan is a former prosecutor in Muskogee and Wagoner counties.
