NEWCASTLE, Okla. (AP) - Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin is expected to join Newcastle lawmakers and officials to view storm damage and recovery efforts in the community following last month's storms.
Fallin is scheduled to take a driving tour of the community on Friday afternoon. After viewing the area, the governor will meet with responders and local officials at the City Command Center.
A series of violent tornadoes raked parts of Oklahoma in May, killing dozens of people and injuring hundreds more.
Two of last month's tornadoes were top-of-the-scale EF5s. A storm on May 20 at Moore had 210 mph winds, and one at El Reno 11 days later had 295 mph winds.
