Gov. Fallin wants American Indian museum bond money

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Gov. Mary Fallin says she's still pushing to include funding to finish an American Indian Cultural Center in Oklahoma City in a proposal for a legislative bond issue.

Fallin said Tuesday she hopes to include the funding this year, but acknowledged there is still no agreement with lawmakers.

House Speaker Kris Steele said last week the only item being discussed in the House for inclusion in a bond issue was for repairs to the state Capitol complex. Fallin says there is "good support" among lawmakers for a bond issue that includes Capitol repairs.

The state agency overseeing the museum says it has secured $40 million in private funds to complete the project and is looking for an additional $40 million from the state.
