OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A New York-based abortion rights group has filed a friend of the court brief in Oklahoma City-based Hobby Lobby's appeal of a ruling that its employee insurance plan must include emergency contraceptives such as the so-called morning after pill.

The Center for Reproductive Rights said Tuesday it filed the brief on behalf of several groups that support requiring Hobby Lobby Stores and Mardel Inc. to provide the coverage under the new federal health care law.

Hobby Lobby and Mardel are owned by a conservative Christian family that says the mandate violates their religious beliefs. They are appealing a ruling that they must provide the insurance.

Also Tuesday - Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt joined in asking the government to adopt broader religious exemptions to the health care law requirement.
