OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma City Planning Commission has approved plans for Hobby Lobby Stores Inc. to add six buildings to its warehouse and distribution center in Oklahoma City.
The Journal Record reports that five of the buildings will measure 80,000 square feet each. The largest building will be 130,000 square feet.
Hobby Lobby Vice President of Real Estate Randy Childers says the expansion is needed as Hobby Lobby continues growing. The arts and craft chain employed 3,045 people at its Oklahoma headquarters in March 2011. That rose to 3,867 by March of this year.
The building additions are the next step in Hobby Lobby's expansion. Last year, the company spent $34.6 million to buy 300 acres of land.
Hobby Lobby has 530 stores nationwide.
