OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - An Oklahoma County judge has ruled that a man accused in the slayings of four family members is not mentally competent to be tried for the slayings.

District Judge Glenn Jones handed down the decision Thursday in the case of 40-year-old Daniel Green. Green faces four counts of first-degree murder in the Aug. 14 shooting deaths of his mother and sister, his sister's daughter and her 7-month-old son.

Jones says a psychological examination of Green revealed that he is unable to help his defense attorney prepare a defense in the case. The defense attorney, Gina Walker, has said Green has been diagnosed with schizophrenia and was unable to assist her.

Jones ordered that Green be transported to the Oklahoma Forensic Center in Vinita for treatment and medication to restore competency.
