LAWTON, Okla. (AP) - A jury has convicted an Oklahoma man of first-degree murder in the killing of a Comanche County couple four years ago.
The jury deliberated less than two hours Thursday before convicting Mica Martinez in the 2009 killings of Carl and Martha Miller.
Prosecutors argued that Martinez was angry with a hitchhiker and took that frustration out on the Millers. The prosecution said Martinez knew what he was doing and that he intended to kill the husband and wife.
Martinez's defense attorneys told jurors that Martinez was heavily intoxicated at the time of the attack, which they say clouded his judgment.
The sentencing phase begins Friday. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
