OKLAHOMA CITY,OK (AP) - Jury selection is beginning for the former leader of the Oklahoma state Senate who faces federal charges of bribery, conspiracy, extortion and mail fraud.

The trial of former Senate President Pro Tem Mike Morgan of Stillwater and two co-defendants is scheduled to begin Monday.

Federal prosecutors allege Morgan took more than $400,000 in illegal payments from three companies for his influence on legislation.

Morgan is accused of conspiring with lobbyist William Skeith and attorney N. Martin Stringer to steer bills on behalf of two of the companies from 2004 until he left the Senate in 2008. Skeith and Stringer face federal charges of conspiracy, extortion and mail fraud.

All have pleaded not guilty.
