OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Four Oklahoma City police officers are on administrative leave following the death of a 38-year-old man in their custody.
Police Capt. Dexter Nelson says Clifton Armstrong was pronounced dead at about 9 p.m. Wednesday after officers responded to a report that someone inside his northwest Oklahoma City house was trying to kill him.
Nelson says the officers determined that Armstrong had become delusional and needed treatment. Nelson says Armstrong then became uncooperative and stripped off his clothes after leaving the house.
Family members and officers tried to calm Armstrong and restrain him to prevent injury, but he stopped breathing a short time later.
Nelson says the officers will remain on administrative leave pending the results of an investigation of the incident.
